Darth Vader Lives!
The current Star Wars Darth Vader comic run by Charles Soule has everyone talking about Emperor Palpatine being revealed as Anakin Skywalker’s ‘father’ through the Dark Side of The Force, but I believe they are burying the lead. What is more interesting and significant is that they announced a new Sith Lord, Momin, who lived past his death through his mask.
Lord Momin possessed those who wore his mask and Darth Vader provided hosts for him to be the architect of Darth Vader’s castle on Mustafar, creating a literal tuning fork for his resurrection. While Darth Vader was distracted with a Mustafarian attack on his castle, Lord Momin opened a portal to the Dark Side of the force and resurrected himself! Darth Vader ultimately destroyed Lord Momin but this cycle is exactly what drove Anakin Skywalker to the Dark Side of The Force to begin with:
“I’ll be the most powerful Jedi ever!” he railed on. “I promise you! I will even learn to stop people from dying!”– Anakin Skywalker
Darth Vader now has the tools at his disposal to resurrect himself through the Dark Side, or at the very least, store his consciousness like Momin through the Dark Side into his helmet.
I know the purpose of the story was to solidify Vader as his own being rather than lamenting for his past and Padmé Amidala, but I believe this reinforces my theory.
When Obi-Wan first explains to Luke Skywalker that Darth Vader killed his father, it was the first time there was a direct distinction made between Anakin and Vader.
“A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. He betrayed and murdered your father. Now the Jedi are all but extinct. Vader was seduced by the dark side of the Force.”– Obi-Wan Kenobi
We know that Luke Skywalker redeemed Anakin Skywalker in Return of the Jedi, because we saw Anakin as a force ghost at the end of the film. But that was a later inclusion as it was originally Sebastian Shaw as Vader, not Hayden Christensen as Anakin. It seems to me with the forced narrative that they were two distinct entities, and that Darth Vader through the Dark Side of The Force murdered Anakin Skywalker in the Dark Side Portal within his Castle, it created two entities. 1. a silent possessed Anakin Skywalker that Luke Skywalker would discover and ultimately rescue from his possession, and 2. The Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader.
“Because there is good in him, I’ve felt it. He won’t turn me over to the Emperor. I can save him; I can turn him back to the good side. I have to try.”-Luke Skywalker
What if Darth Vader learned to do the very thing Lord Momin did by trapping his consciousness in his helmet and when Kylo Ren is meditating with it in The Force Awakens, he is literally speaking with Darth Vader.
What if when Kylo says he will continue what Darth Vader started, he wasn’t talking about ending the Jedi, but rather he was referring to Darth Vaders ultimate purpose, learning to stop death, by resurrecting him!
“Forgive me. I feel it again… the call from light. Supreme Leader senses it. Show me again the power of the darkness, and I’ll let nothing stand in our way. Show me, grandfather, and I will finish what you started.”-Kylo Ren
Now there is much speculation about Episode 9, and why wouldn’t there be? But it would be amazing to use this story-line to tie Kylo Ren, Snoke and Vader together wouldn’t it? Snoke has a ring made from the obsidian found beneath Vader’s castle, so he was clearly there at some point. The Portal is there…. why would Snoke not have brought Kylo to his grandfather’s castle when he is continually using him as a measuring stick through the Dark Side of the Force?
This truly is just wishful thinking on my part and a highly unlikely reality to the ultimate story, but I am not ready to say goodbye to Darth Vader, and I desperately want there to be purpose to so many of the story-lines
J.J. Abrams set up in The Force Awakens. Not to mention some connection with the amazing Darth Vader comic that just ended and the mystery of The Force.
But what do you think? Am I way off base here? Is there a possibility of Darth Vader being alive still? Have we seen the last of Vader’s Castle in the films?
Let me know in the comments below and until we can speak of Star Wars again, May The Force Be With You!
